Your brand colors show up everywhere: your logo, website, packaging, social posts and signs. A few careful decisions now save a lot of redesigning later.
1. Start with a feeling, not a color
Write down three words you want people to feel, such as "calm, trustworthy, modern" or "playful, bright, friendly". Type those words into the Colrify keyword generator to see palettes that match the mood.
2. Pick one main color
This is the color people will remember. Blues tend to read as reliable, greens as natural or healthy, reds and oranges as energetic, purples as creative, and black with gold as premium. Check what your competitors use and consider standing apart.
3. Add a neutral pair
You need a light color for backgrounds and a dark color for text. Off-whites and deep navy or charcoal usually look more refined than pure white and pure black.
4. Choose one accent
An accent is for buttons, sale tags and highlights. It should contrast with your main color, which is exactly what complementary colors are for.
5. Test for readability
Put your text color on your background and check the contrast. Normal text needs a ratio of at least 4.5:1 to meet accessibility guidelines. Our Contrast Checker will tell you instantly and suggest a fix.
Write it down
Save the HEX codes in one place and use them every time. Consistency is what makes colors feel like a brand. Colrify Pro will add brand kits for exactly this; until then, save your palette and copy the CSS variables.
